The OSHA 30 Training Program provides training for workers and employers on the recognition, avoidance, abatement, and prevention of safety and health hazards in workplaces. The program also provides information regarding workers’ rights, employer responsibilities, and how to file a complaint.
The OSHA 30 Training Program employees attend 30 hours of classes delivered by Jeff Bennett, Thompson Electric’s OSHA authorized trainer. The 30 hour class is intended for employees with responsibility for safety in the field or as a refresher class for their personal well-being. The past 2 months Jeff Bennett provided OSHA 30 training for 16 employees from our Omaha office. This was the fourth OSHA 30 Training class in the past couple years in Omaha.
The 16 employees that attended the OSHA 30 Training were Charles Ball, George Turner, Mick Coffman, Daniel Erdbruger, Bret Falk, Nick Guthrie, Dave Hibler, Lynn Kahnk, Brad Madej, James Mahr, Nick Vincent, Aaron Miller, Chris Saab, Doug Stephens, Dan VanGrud and Richard Roan.
We are proud of the commitment made to achieve the OSHA 30 Certification and recognize those who attended with an OSHA 30 Safety Vest.

Sam Ouedraogo, Assistant Project Manager with Thompson Electric Company of Omaha has had a unique experience here at Thompson Electric beginning in summer of 2016. Sam is an Electrical Engineering student, he started at Thompson with a 3-month 400-hour internship.
During his internship, Sam has spent valuable hours in the office and the field. He was able to experience change orders, RFI’s, understanding the importance of planning, prefab and how the field and office team work together to keep projects moving forward. Sam stated, “I could not have done this without the assistance of the projects managers, the field workers and most importantly the opportunity that this company provides for the young uprising generation”.
Upon completion of his internship, Sam was asked to stay with the Team as an Assistant Project Manager. He is continuing his education and looks forward to the opportunities with Thompson after he finishes his degree.
Sam’s goal is to one day return to Burkina Faso and open an electrical company. He stated “combining the technology that I am learning here in USA with my previous experience from Burkina Faso I can bring something new to my country it will be a source of jobs, and new technology for my country to benefit from.” Most of the services we provide here in the USA are not standard in Burkina Faso and Sam hopes he can develop them. The electrical services he hopes to offer are industrial, commercial, automation, preventive maintenance, arc flash and especially renewable solar and wind energy.

The Sioux Area Metro downtown bus depot in Sioux Falls, SD recently underwent reconstruction. In this project, Adam Carpenter and his team updated the lighting and added linear RGB programmable lights to the skylight. This lighting feature will allow the lights to be changed to a wide array of unique colors. The CATV Cabling and programming of the DMX controller was all done by Adam and Thompson Electric team.

Thompson Omaha employees enjoyed a day of food and fun with a Thompson Tailgate party held on September 29th. The entire company was invited for burgers hotdogs and sides. Office employees contributed by bringing sides and salads and many desserts. Kevin Lytle, the General Manager made a statement about how important it was to do activities that promote a positive work culture and a chance to relax and have fun! Over 50 employees from Field Service Technicians to CW’s to Office staff participated in this great activity. We are so excited to continue these activities to make our company an engaging and fun place to work!
Recently Thompson Electric employees participated in the Brookings Health System Foundation‘s eighth annual Aiming to Inspire Health sporting clays fundraiser.
The goal of the fundraiser was to earn money for new Automated External Defibrillators (AED) units for the Brookings Police Department Vehicles.
The Thompson team had 4 members, Mike Anderson, Derek Bundesen, Keith Gorter, and Dillon Coughlin.
At the end of the day, the Thompson team not only supported a great cause, they also had a lot of fun.
