The fall harvest is just beginning to get underway. So, you know what that means, lots of slow moving vehicles on the roadways. This is the time of year when you have to be vigilant with your driving habits and to always expect the unexpected.
Always be ready for turning trucks, tractors and combines. Be looking for farm field driveways or the driveways into the farm homesteads that the farmers may be using. Be particularly aware of the areas where the farmers may be making a left hand turn into a field or driveway. Farm equipment does not always have turn signals or brake lights so you need to anticipate where they may be turning.
Inform those young drivers in your family, of the dangers of driving this time of year, especially when passing farm equipment. Quite often the drivers of the farm equipment cannot see behind them, so you have to be especially aware of what they might do.
The days are getting shorter, which means there is less daylight and the darkness can be extremely dangerous with the slow moving vehicles on the road. Let’s make this a safe time for everyone.
