What is EMR and why are we blogging about it? No, it is not a trip to the emergency room, but a rating issued by our insurance company based upon our safety record. EMR has a strong impact upon our business. It is a number used by insurance companies to gauge both past cost of injuries and future chances of risk. The lower the EMR for Thompson Electric, the lower our worker compensation insurance premiums will be. An EMR of 1.0 is considered the industry average.
Thompson Electric Companies EMR has just been issued for this coming year and our rate has fallen to .69, which is outstanding. The lowest possible rating Thompson Electric could receive is .67. This rating is a combined effort of everybody at Thompson Electric. Thompson Electric has always had a very strenuous safety program and the commitment to this program reflects in our EMR rating. We provide training on equipment used in the field and warehouses to OSHA 10 & 30 classes for our electricians. Safety is not a given, it is earned and implemented by everyone.
The EMR rating of .69 is an outstanding effort by everyone at Thompson Electric and everyone is to be congratulated. Good Job everyone!!!
