Avera in Sioux Falls recently opened their new Avera Medical Group SE Clinic at 69th & Cliff Ave. The 48,000 square foot, two-story facility consists of (72) exam/procedure rooms, (26) individual offices, lab, waiting, radiology, clean, soiled and nurse work station areas. This facility also houses administration, radiology, lab, NST, and Phlebotomy services. Like other new Avera clinics, the 69th and Cliff location is designed for patient privacy and staff efficiency. This design ensures that patients never encounter the “busyness” of clinic operations, and their experience is private and quiet.
What also makes this clinic unique is, it’s the first building of this type in Sioux Falls that is 100% LED lighting. The LED lighting is interior, exterior and parking for the building. By using LED lighting versus fluorescent lighting, Avera will conservatively save $ 12,000 to $13,000 per year in their electrical usage.
Avera and Thompson Electric have a long and trusting relationship that allows us to be involved in the electrical design of their clinics. This makes for a more efficient electrical package and gives us the ability to add features to their projects. By bringing our final cost under the original budget, Avera Medical Group was able to enhance their building by adding LED lighting and an outside Daktronic LED Message display.
Tim Kayser was the foreman on this project and his team including Brian Hochstein, Tom Torkelson, Derek Bundesen, Chris Freeman, Mike Gerard, Bryan Mergen, Josh Ness, Matt Warne, Seth Johnson-Larson, Wes Kloucek, Josh Jastram, Kyle Evans, Dustin Meyer, Brian Parsons, Wade Horton, Chad Danielson, Cody Jensen, Nate Schroer and the prefab team did a great job in bringing this project in under budget and on schedule.
The Avera Medical Group Southeast is another example of how Thompson Electric is always looking for alternative ways to help preserve the environment by offering our clients carbon reducing options.
