Last Monday, Barney Pottebaum – VP/Gen Mgr. – Sioux City, Cory Floyd – Prefabrication Shop Mgr. and Kent Grange – Director of Business Development made a presentation to the WA Klinger project management team. The purpose of the presentation was to demonstrate to WA Klinger the prefabrication capabilities of Thompson Electric and the advantages it can create in the schedule, coordination and other areas as well, when utilized at the beginning of a project.
They also discussed the use of BIM/Revit (3D) technology to identify potential conflicts between the various trades on the project and to the prefabrication and installation of materials in the field.
As a result of Monday’s presentation, WA Klinger decided they would like to use this technology on one of their latest projects, the Bomgaar’s Warehouse Addition. This addition is a new 151,000 sq. ft. warehouse with a 43,000 sq. ft. mezzanine located at the existing Bomgaar’s warehouse in Sioux City. This will be the first project that WA Klinger and Thompson Electric have teamed up to use the BIM/Revit technology. Using the BIM/Revit technology will be a coordinated effort between Nick Rol, project manager, Thompson Electric, Sioux City and Mark Jordan, Revit/BIM/CAD/Total Station operator, Thompson Electric, Omaha. Nick is excited to be using this technology and is anxious to see the benefits using BIM/Revit and the upfront coordination on the project.
This is an exciting partnership within Thompson Electric…
